Diamondhead Sight - John Connor

The Diamondhead Sight is one of those ideas so logical and obviously effective, you slap your forehead and wonder "Why didn't I think of that?" Essentially, it is a high-quality, rock solid rear BUIS unit for AR's and other flattops, with a diamond-shaped aperture - actually, two apertures, one for CQB and one for precision or longer-range shots - which provides super fast intuitive sighting.

How it works so well is simple. Rear sights are blury when you're aiming and it's far easier to find the exact center of a blury diamond than to find the exact center of a blury circle. Adding to the "sight-sharpening" effect of looking through a diamond-shaped aperture, there are also posts added outboard of the three, twelve and nine oc'clock corners of the diamond which provide instant, unconscious reference points. One quick look through the Diamondhead Sight and you'll see how much this can help when you're sighting under a full adrenaline load.

The unit is machined from blackened stainless steel and mil-spec Type 111 anodized aluminum and the precision of its machining is really apparent. It clamps securely on 1913 rails and a locking system ensures the sight stays up and zeroed through violent action. A suitably stiff release button lets the sight fold down to a low profile but prevents accidental knock-down. It is fully adjustable for windage.
